Union-Endicott Central School District Instructional Technology Plan 2026-2029
The Union-Endicott Central School District's Instructional Technology Plan supports equitable access to high-quality educational opportunities, preparing students for college, career, and citizenship in a technology-dominated world. The plan outlines three strategic goals: establishing a standardized process for managing digital tools and ensuring equitable access; building a robust framework for Artificial Intelligence integration through professional development; and conducting a comprehensive audit of the K-12 digital software portfolio to streamline resources and ensure accessibility. Key initiatives include a 1:1 mobile device program, advanced computer science courses, and assistive technologies to foster academic excellence.

The BAT subcommittee reviewed and edited the draft policy #7318 based on feedback from stakeholder groups, with the revised policy going to the board for a first reading and planned implementation in the fall, following the Governor's requirements for Student Use of Personal Electronic Devices. An informational email will be sent to parents in August, followed by principals distributing individual school plans. An exemption form (Form 7318-F) is being created for families to use if healthcare providers grant exemptions. Principals need to include building-specific information in their agendas and sub folders, with unlocking stations available to students in each school. The team will reconvene in late fall to discuss implementation pros and cons.

Board Advisory Team (B.A.T.) Subcommittee Minutes
The meeting addressed the Governor's Proposal regarding the prohibition of internet-enabled devices by students on school grounds during the school day, including discussion on key words such as 'on school grounds' and 'during the school day'. Principals shared drafts of their school's proposal for cell phone usage, including the use of Yondr bags. The team reviewed/edited the current policy 7318, which allows students to use cell phones during non-instructional times. The team discussed areas of interest: talking with similar schools of similar size who either use Yondr bags or who have a different approach, and hosting a community conversation with a round-table style format to share thoughts and gather additional feedback from the community.
