Northtown Area School District Board of School Directors Special Meeting
The board discussed a court order requiring the district to issue a charter to the Norristown Academy Charter School. The meeting included a review of the extensive legal history of the charter application process, including previous denials based on concerns regarding curriculum, facilities, financial viability, and the relationship with a for-profit management company. The board members debated the implications of complying with the court order, specifically regarding the loss of local oversight authority if the district refused to issue the charter, despite serious ongoing concerns about the charter school's management and academic track record.
